Research area
Sachin Jog is a PhD candidate in the Sustainable Process Systems Engineering Lab at ETH Zürich, supervised by Prof. Gonzalo Guillén Gosálbez. He holds a Master’s degree in Process Engineering from ETH Zürich, where his Master's thesis focused on carbon capture and storage.
His current research focuses on process modelling and optimization. More specifically, he has developed a hybrid modelling methodology that combines first-principles-based (mechanistic) equations with data-driven surrogate models for process flowsheet optimization. Additionally, his work involves modelling and optimizing integrated chemical clusters that leverage synergistic effects between different feedstocks and reaction pathways through heat, mass, and power integration. Moreover, his research includes accounting for the intermittency of renewable energy in chemical cluster decarbonization. He also conducts multi-objective optimization incorporating economic and environmental performance indicators, such as production costs and global warming potential, to generate Pareto-optimal solutions.
