Sustainable Energy Systems Design

Designing more sustainable energy mixes for the future is a very complex task that requires the use of energy systems models (ESMs) to guide both decision and policy makers.

We are developing ESMs which allow identifying optimal electricity mixes and transmissions that minimize the cost respecting technical constraints (including demand satisfaction and capacity limitations) while meeting emissions targets or bounds on other ecological limits (planetary boundaries framework).
